“After losing his parliamentary immunity, Dashty is asking about the position regarding Saudi Arabia and…”
On March 17, the electronic newspaper Rai al-Youm carried the following report: “The prominent Shi’i Kuwait member of the parliament, Abdul Hamid Dashty, proceeded with the political confrontation via his Twitter account hours following the decision of the Kuwaiti Parliament to lift his immunity on the cases of abusing the judiciary and Saudi Arabia. He also saluted Moscow in Russian.

“The Kuwaiti parliament had approved on Tuesday the General Prosecution’s request to lift the parliamentary immunity off MP Dashty for abusing the judges in the case pertaining to the terrorist cell related to Iran and Hezbollah. The outcome of the voting saw the approval of 39 out of the 44 present MPs [on lifting his immunity].

“As for the case of abusing Saudi Arabia, 41 MPs signed the request to lift his immunity while 5 out of the 46 present MPs refused to do that. The Kuwaiti General Prosecutor had received a letter from the deputy foreign minister indicating that the ministry received an official memo from the Saudi embassy in Kuwait saying that, during an televised intervention on the Syrian News channel on February 24, MP Dashty attacked and “abused the Kingdom in addition to inciting against it” as per CNN.

“In the past few hours, Dashty was busy retweeting the comments supporting him and attacking the decision to lift his immunity. He also saluted Moscow, which had just pulled out its jets from Syria, as he wrote: “Spaseeba (Thank you in Russia). A salute of respect to our Russian friends including the [Russian] president, government, and people for helping Syria. History will remember your position. We have always loved you for decades.”

“Dashty also tweeted the following: “There are questions in my mind that need to be answered: Where do we stand regarding the resolutions of the UN Human Rights council on the situation in Saudi Arabia?! Where do we stand on the investigation committee regarding the September 2001 events and the results that were reached by this committee? Where do we stand on Obama’s clear expression on the situation in Saudi Arabia? And where do we stand on the reports of the Human Rights organizations concerning their [i.e. the Saudis’] support for terrorism?!””
